I'm not sure if my previous thread uploaded since it's not in my tracked threads.so sorry if this is a repost

I'm upgrading to a ddr4 PC mid April and I'd like some help. I'll use my PC for video rendering, 3d modelling and rendering and gaming so I'd like to go for the ryzen route. My budget is around £500-600(kinda sad..how much I got my current PC for).

CPU: ryzen 1800x (only £15 more than 1700)
Cooler: no idea as far as coolers go.
Motherboard: I have no idea which one to pick. I'd like one that would allow crossfire and another slot for my sound card. Also one with decent overclock ability.
Ram: I'm going for 16gb at the moment because crazy ram prices. In the future I'd like 64gb. Apparently I need 3200mhz ram because it makes a big impact?
Gpu: rx 480 crossfire from my old PC
HDD SSD etc peripherals: all from my old PC.

Solution
Cooler is going to depend on your case model ?

In all honesty the ryzen 7's are looking awful value when the ryzen 1600 is only £150 though.

Solution
The ryzen 1600 comes in a huge amount cheaper & in all honesty you're not giving up that much performance wise.

Bear in mind with ryzen , once you go 32g of ram or more you are unlikely to be able to run it above 2666mhz.

I would say if you're dead set on having a Ryzen based system go for a decent B350 mobo, it should come with crossfire support, overclocking ability and can take up to 64MB of RAM. By all accounts the stock coolers with Ryzen CPUs are pretty good, so my advice would be try overclocking with the stock cooler and see if it's any good or not first.

Thank you for your suggestions. I did but decided Id be better off with faster render times than game performance. That is why i think ryzen would be a nice choice. The ram you sent me is quite cheap considering the prices i see. Thank you. Also i have a corsair 300r as my current case.

The ryzen five price sounds appealing and has amazing price for performance but I would like faster render times. Ive been looking at benchmarks and theyre kinda confusing as results vary from each tester. Also How come I cant go over that much mhz? Is this a motherboard issue or a cpu issue? Sorry for the silly questions, its the first time ive heard of this.

Nice to know that the amd stock cooler is decent! But i dont thnk the 1800x would come with it if i were to choose it. That is why i would like some recommendations just in case

Thanks for your advice guys. I am set on choosing the 1700(need the extra cores and stuff to speed up rendering... also has a nice stock cooler) to save money as the performance is similar to the 1800x when overclocked. I also opped for the ASRock - X370 Killer SLI ATX AM4 Motherboard which matt recommended as it has a PS/2 connector and nice power phases. Also chose 3k mhz as the ram speed. Maybe the new ryzen 2000 series will be a similar price and I could get those instead. We will see. Anyways, thanks for your help everyone. also thanks for the intel build. it helped my friend choose parts for his upgrade.
