I have done a lot of research about the new cpu. but I already ordered the mobo. but it needs an update on the bios for the upcoming amd processor ryzen 5 2600X. So how I update the cpu? can you update the mobo without the cpu on it? Can it boot to bios with the new cpu? Is there a way to borrow a older cpu for the mobo just to update it? Anything helps Thanks!

Very cool of AMD to offer this as an option. While I'm not the OP, this was a cool bit of info for me to know as well so thanks for posting it.

For the OP, here's a quick and dirty article on it
https://www.pcgamer.com/amd-will-lend-you-an-older-processor-to-update-your-bios-to-support-a-ryzen-apu/

and here's the actual support site from AMD on it.

Incorrect in which way ? A series were old APU processors made for FM2 "Bristol Ridge" configured to work on AM4 boards and were compatible with very first BIOS versions for all AM4 motherboards. 2200g and 2400g based processors are Ryzen based "Raven Ridge" core.

my apologies that wasn't directed at you bud. There was a previous response that has since been corrected that originally said the loaner kit was only applicable to the ryzen 3 2200G and ryzen 5 2400G
