My intel msi z87-g41 pc mate motherboard isn't reading my Zotac nvidia geforce gtx 660 synergy edition graphics card.

I've plugged in the card properly but the board says there is no card in the pci-e slot. A feature in this bios called the board explorer says that the slot the gpu is connected to is empty and nothing is there. I've done this with both pci-e slots to no avail. I'm getting picture because I have the cable plugged into the onboard graphics for this troubleshooting.

*Old gpu works like a charm, just plug in and go.
*The new card is not dead because it worked fine in my friend's rig.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Yes, it's connected. I've tried all 3 pci-e power cables and none have made the card read-able.

My psu is also a cx750 so I assume power isn't the problem

I've updated the bios to the most recent for the board.
Went to the msi website and said v1.8 was the most recent update for the board so I updated it to that.

Is it possible that certain brands of cards, like Zotac for example, are just picky with certain boards? Or certain variances of a series are picky? Ex: 660 won't work but 670 will

My buddy that gave me the board mentioned (during the hassle, he recalled upon a coincidence) that his 760 didn't work in the board for whatever reason awhile back.

Is it is possible for the board to be allergic to gtx #60's?

Also, the graphics is set to PEG, which I've read is the equivalent to pci-e

I don't believe my bios has that option, or at least doesn't display this option in that format or use the same nomenclature.
I believe the equivalent to your suggestion that applies to my bios would be:
>integrated graphics device configuration >initiate graphics adapter: [PEG/IGD]
I have this already set to PEG so my graphics card should be the priority. I also have 'IGD multi-monitor' Disabled because I heard that may also disrupt the priority to the pci-e slot

It's an old card. Like a gt 520 or something. Really small, doesn't even require a 6pin.
Yea I used the adapter like once or twice and it didn't work. I figured the 6pins directly from the psu would be better, I could tinker around with adapter for a bit and see if that works out. The psu is a cx750 so I don't think that's the problem.

have you tried resetting the bios to default settings? 2.) have you tried using a diff port at the back of the card i.e use the hdmi or the dvi ports? if it still doesnt boot up try these last step. there might be some stresss point at the motherboard try removin g the motherboard from the case and set it up on a tabla all the vital parts first. motherboard ram gpu powersupply. i hope you know how to test boot them outside the case. cause this happened to me once i just unmount the mobo and try to set it up out side the case just to make sure there is no stress on the mounting. i hope you get my instructions

Right, that last suggestion is gonna take some work. My buddy set up the rig for me at the time so I'm gonna go through the innards and make sure no cord is being choked or touching the motherboard unnecessarily

i hope it works for you btw what type of zotac card u have ? is it the two orange fans or the one with one fan?

It's the single fan one
