Long story short I ended the windows process from task manager and now the pc will only launch windows from the bios after turning off and on a couple times and getting it to safe made where I can then go in through boot menu and select my 980pro and windows launches right up. I'm not a software person at all. It's like after the pc initial start up and and whatever process happens that then triggers the windows startup is not happening. Please help.

Hey there,

Please list your full PC specs.

Everything thing was fine until I stopped windows like an idiot. I thought the boot order at first as well but nothing is changed. It does the same thing when I put it to sleep. Upon wake up it just sets with the orange light blinking on the board. Have to shut it off then the light blinks orange the to red then green and boots to safe mode and I hit f1 to go to bios and select the 980 from the boot menu and it boots straight up. I don't understand why stopping window did this.

It sounds like you corrupted the uefi boot partition. At this point I would go into the bios and turn off "Secure Boot", which might be hanging things up.

Since you are using a Samsung SSD, you should probably try using Samsung Magician Software (download from their website) to repair the boot partition. While I have not used this software myself, I understand Samsung NVME SSD often need to be configured with this software to boot properly.

Then I would try to rebuild the the boot partition using Windows. The easiest method, if it works is to follow the below instructions.

1) Boot Up Windows from Installation Media Boot up from a Windows 11 installation media USB (or DVD). If you don't have one search, Windows Media Creator and follow the instructions.

2)At the installation screen click "Repair your computer" on the "Install now" screen.

3)Cick "Troubleshoot" by choosing an option screen > click "Automatic repair".

automatic-repair-msi

4) Choose an account from the list to continue at the Automatic Repair screen and wait for the process to finish.

If that doesn't work search "Use Diskpart to Fix UEFI Boot Error in Windows 11/10". This will also require an installation media, but you will be using the Command Prompt instead.
