Question Help! My RAM won’t retrain properly following a windows update.

Hey guys, I recently bought an ASUS Strix X870E - E Gaming mobo, and it works fine once booted with no blue screens and no crashes.

The thing is, every time the PC updates itself and restarts, it doesn’t post, and the debug code says 0D.

The fans and the case lights are on and working, but there’s no connection to the monitor and the keyboard doesn’t light up. The DRAM debug LED stays a solid orange.

It will stay like that for hours until I hard reset, at which point after one or two tries, it continues updating windows from where it left off and boots with no further issues, until the next windows update comes along.

I’ve updated the BIOS a few times, to no avail. It seems like something about the windows update causes the RAM to fail to retrain properly. Any ideas?

You might try switching off Memory Context Restore, as described below (if your mobo has this setting):-

So I was actually thinking about that setting, and I was wondering if perhaps switching it ON would help? Maybe it will force the mobo to stop retraining every time it restarts?

In theory yes, it should keep settings and not trying to retrain at every start nut that depends on how BIOS works with your RAM's XMP.
