Hello,
This is my first build. PSU finally turned up today so I built the system. Doesn't seem to work at all.
Components are as follows.
board: p9x79 pro
CPU: 3930k
GPU: gtx680 (MSI Twin Frozr)
RAM: 32gb (4x8gb) Gskill Ripjaw Z 1866
PSU: Corsair HX750w 80+ Gold
Boot disc:512gb Vertex 4 SSD
Optical disc:Pioneer BDR 208BDK
CPU cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo
case:Define R4
Problem: I turn on the power and the onboard LED's for power and reset light up red and green respectively. When I press the power button everything twitches (fans, GPU fans, etc, before cutting out. Power lights remain on. There is no ram light at all. CPU LED flashes once after I press the power button.
So far I have taken out everything bar ram, CPU and cooler - no joy. The RAM is advertised as "ultimate quad channel memory for intel X79 systems". So I assume it is compatible. I've tried it with one stick, etc. No difference.
I don't have a speaker to listen to the motherboard output, I suppose I should go buy one. Does anybody have any other suggestions?
I thought it might be the PSU, it's second hand and when it arrived it turned out to have an (undisclosed) European plug that I've had to feed into an adaptor. Could this cause any problems?
