Guys,

Any help is much appreciated, as I have hit a roadblock. I am pretty confident when it comes to building a PC (I have done it 4 times now, my own and a couple friends), but I am not that confident on the software/BIOS end. Below is hopefully good enough information for someone to help me take the next step and get this all working. Thank you to anyone who takes a look at this.

I am trying to update my BIOS for my motherboard, as I read in this article that I could update a B350 motherboard from the 1000 series to the 5000 series CPU (basically going from a 2017 PC to a 2022 PC).

That said, I am having trouble updating my BIOS for this. My problem now is that when I try to update my BIOS, it says invalid image or something like that. Here is the BIOS section for my motherboard. I am currently still running F8, but was trying to update it to F52m or F52h, but neither are working. I was reading and saw I should update to F31 before updating to F40 before updating to F52m or F52h. This is all confusing to me, but in the end, I wasn't able to get it to work, as it wouldn't update to any of the above builds.

Here is what I am trying to get my PC to be (all upgraded parts are already bought and at my house)...

I would update the AMD driver as shown in F30, then update to F30. Verify stability. Then F31. Then F40. You should then be able to go to F52h. Verify stability with your exising 1600. Then swap CPUs. Verify staibility. Then swap your power supply. Verify stability. Then swap your graphics card.
ONE CHANGE AT A TIME.

I know this is an older post, but I have the same exact motherboard you do and I am having a little bit of issues with it myself, saw your post and I feel I know the answer to this, but this post being over a year old, I am sure you have fixed it, but in order to update your BIOS you will need to install the EC FW Update Tool to B19.0606.1 or later version. You can find that under the Utility section on the page you linked for the mobo. Once you have that installed, then you can update your BIOS.

I hope you have been able to get this all sorted out a long time ago though :)

The original poster hasn't been on this board since Dec 2023. I don't think they will ever see your post.
