Hi People,

I am in the process of buying a new computer and stuck on whether I should go for the AMD FX-51 or the Intel Pentium 4 EE. After pricing up both bits of kit they come up pretty much the same due to having to buy the ECC memory for the Asus board I want. I want to get a ATI 9800 XT but is there any advantages with picking a certain type of processor (AMD or INTEL). The machine is going to be used mainly for 3d gaming (Flight Sim 2004)

Cheers
Rich

If they come to about the same price then the 64-bitness of the AMD probably just about tips the balance in it's favour.

Personally I wouldn't waste that much money on a chip. If you want my advice, you're better off buying a P4 2.6C on an Abit IS-7 motherboard with some PC4000 Ram and overclocking the hell out of it. You'd probably still get more performance out of that than you would the EE.
