My computer has suddenly become unable to detect any network adapter devices. As a result, i cannot connect to the internet.

i ran a troubleshoot and it said that there is no network adapter installed.

i went into devices manager and found no 'network adapter' category; which apparently everyone should have.

i have restarted my computer dozens of times and have also tried installing the network adapter software of the manufacturer (apparently mine is AOL?), only to receive a 'code 10: cannot activate device' or something like that.

There is also no light when i plug the ethernet cable into the ethernet port. Actually, i can sometimes achieve a light when i unplug and then replug the computer power supply. But then it immediately disappears when i turn on the computer.

this suddenly happened after coming back from a 2 week break, where the computer was not turned on once.

thanks for your time; hope i can get some help here :)

Well if it worked before then it is obviously not a drivers problem. It sound like your NIC is dead. Perhaps there was a lightning strike or something.
