Hello I recommend this to you instead the 970 performs better than the r9 290x

What's this being used for? Go with a power supply from Tier 1-2B preferably.

Also, you may be interested in a 970 for its power efficiency. (Can SLI with a 750w power supply)

The one you have will work for gaming and other things. If you are looking for performance for your first build, then go with the 970. However, I would add that later on if you wanted to.

Pick what you got. Honestly, performance doesn't mean it won't work well, it just means that its more powerful. If you happen to change your mind a few years later, you could go with the NVIDIA 900 series.
