[SOLVED] HELP!! New cpu problems.

So I’m running a Msi b450 tomahawk mobo with a ryzen 5 2600, 16gb ram, and a 1660ti. I decided to upgrade to a ryzen 7 3700x. Got it yesterday and was so excited I put it straight in flipped the switch and boom. Nothing. All fans where running. RGB looking beautiful including the new cpu fan. However no picture. No bios menu. Nothing. Well I read a little bit and learned that I needed to update the bios on my b450. So I did to the latest one. Still nothing. I put my old cpu in aka the ryzen 5 2600 and it works just fine. Is it a me problem or what do you guys think? I ordered a replacement and it’ll be here tomorrow. But I’m wondering if it’s user error. But I can’t see how it would be. I did the msi flash with a usb stick. No problems at all updating.

This is easier than you are making it out to be.
Power down.
Take the battery out for 10 minutes....OR....short the two pins like it tells you to in the manual.
That's it.
You aren't doing anything with the motherboard other than removing the battery or shorting the pins.

We're going to need a little more information. Given you've got an MSI board, can you check and see what BIOS version you're on at the time of writing? Might want to also parse the rest of your specs, sans the motherboard and CPU, like so:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Age of the PSU in your build? Another point to ask, did you order a replacement CPU or motherboard?

Ram: 16 gb Corsair ram
SSD/HDD: 1tb HDD, 7tb hdd, 500gb ssd.
GPU: Gtx 1660ti
PSU: 600w. Forgot the brand but I’ve had it for about 2ish years with the build. Never had a problem with it.
OS: windows 10 64 bit

I ordered a replacement cpu. When I took the ryzen 2600 cpu fan out, the cpu was stuck to it on the bottom. With the silver little latch lock still down in a locked state. I didn’t pull hard so I didn’t see any damage. Was a little worried. Continued putting my new cpu in with the included fan. Plugged everything up. Flipped the switch. Everything turned on except my monitors. No picture. Nothing. So I switched back to ryzen 5 2600 and it booted up. I downloaded the latest mobo bios which is 7C02v1H5(Beta version) and my old cpu works just fine. Pc loads up but still nothing with the new cpu. No picture. I even tried a different graphics card. Nothing.

If it still didn't work....and the 2600 did.....I would be thinking it may be the CPU itself.

yea it’s fully my fault not updating the bios. I realized I needed to. Took the new cpu out and out the old back in. Updated to latest version 7C02v1H5(Beta version) and still nothing. Cpu still didn’t load. All lights on. Fans running. No picture. Tried 2 different graphics cards and nothing. Put my old 2600 back in. Boom. Works.

Power down....take the CMOS battery out for 10 minutes....put it back in and try it.

Whats ur ram modules? and try to do the cmos battery reset... Take the circular battery on the motherboard out, like u wud change any battery, it wud be placed right under the gpu, take it out, keep it aside for 30 seconds, put it back in, it wud reset the cmos...

Ok. When I find the battery is it just a pull and plug back in type deal? Also when I do pull it out and put it back in. I’m assuming I use my old 2600 during this whole process. Do I need to re download the newish mobo bios then update again and put the new cpu in after all that’s done.

It should be somewhat easy to remove.
It pops out.
Leave it out for 10 minutes.
Put it back in.
While it's powered down...if the 3700x isn't installed I would install it.
Then I would power up with the 3700x.
You aren't having problems with the 2600.
Resetting the BIOS isn't going to help anything with the 2600.
It MAY help with the 3700x.
It is something to try.
It's not guaranteed.

Ok. I’ll do that. I’ll be home in a few. I’ll take the 2600 out. Install the 3700x. All while the pc is turned off. Dumb question. Is the battery like a little tiny circular thingy lmao. I know that’s a bad was to describe it.

Lmao I know I am. I second guess ALOT. Let me ask this for my final question then after I do everything I’ll come back and give a update. I’ll flip the psu switch in the back. Do I need to unplug the power cord or no? Then I’ll take the battery out. Wait 10 min then pop it back in WITH the ryzen 7 3700x and boot the pc up.
