Hello folks

so i was using sound through the HDMI then i wanted to properly use my motherbord features because i have a really good pc my mobo is Asus Gaming 3. So now i have no sounds from vlc but everything else is working when i switch to HDMI the sound come back but not through the Jack. I think it has something to do with Gtx 970 not sure can you guys help me !

Solution
If everything else works, and only VLC has this problem, it is either a setting in VLC that needs to be changed, or a bug. I am not familiar with VLC, so I cant tell you which it is.
On the task bar, way over to the right is a speaker icon. Right click it, and select Playback devices. A window will appear that has all of your audio playback devices listed. Highlight the one you want to use, and select the Set Default button below the list, then click Apply.

Control Panel > Sound
On the Playback tab you can set your default audio device.

Not 100% sure what you are trying to do but here is where you need to change some things.
On my computer it doesn't want to switch unless I change the default and sometimes it still won't work until I disable the HDMI audio out and set it to "Speakers" which is just your headphone jack.

Last note: Most sound cards/configurations will allow HDMI OR headphone jack but not both at the same time.

Well i did all what you guys said before i come here , here is my problem i have gtx970 that i use hdmi to transmit video and sound at the same time to my monitor but i changed it into audio jack in my mobo and hdmi is still connected with the monitor obviously ... now the problem that after what i did vlc is not working no sound at all but when i switch my default to hdmi vlc works again so idk what i really should do to fix it so i can hear it through my audio jack headphone
**PS i did disable HDMI on playback devices and set what i want into default but still not working

well i think Nvidia is fucking with it not sure so i dont really think i downloaded other audio drivers all was automatic , also the problem is only with vlc every other sound is working

Ahh I fixed it , it was a setting in vlc audio i had to change the output module into (WaveOut audio output) and boom sounds came back on vlc ! Thanks for everyone trying to help guys
