Help pc turns on and off

This morning I was using my pc just on the internet it froze wouldn't let me restart nothing so I turned the power off to it. When I tried to turn back on it would turn on for a min then turn off and back and forth. I also had no signal to monitor keyboard nothing. I put in my old psu and same thing. So after looking around on my phone I saw to take out my GPU and plug my monitor into the motherboard and now everything is working fine? My question is what is the problem bad GPU is it a bad power connection from psu or is the socket bad on my motherboard? I am new to this it is my first build.

It could be a number of things. I'm afraid we'll only know what's wrong in due course of time. Use your computer normally. Let us know if you face any problem after this.
