Hell there, please help me 'awesome tech people'!

I've bee hearing a seeing a lot of things about the motherboard i'm about to order so but i need to 100% sure before i odrer my parts.

Is my asrock 970 extreme3 compatible with my CPU, the AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor, and my RAM, the Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600?

Here's their website: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/970%20Extreme3/?cat=Memory

My memory is not on there, will that be a problem? Because i've seen others say on tomshardware that their RAM was not on the list yet it worked fine.

Plus on PCpartpicker I made a list of my parts (although the montior, GPU and case is different) but read what it says at the bottom, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2oZov
it says "Potential Issues/Incompatibilities - Some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs."

Please help me! THANK YOU

Solution

On here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asrock-motherboard-970extreme3

You should see a row that's labeled Memory Type You should see numbers. if you see the number that your ram speed is then it's compatible with that ram. (You should've saw a 1600)

And for the CPU if you go to the newegg site you should see the motherboard and the description it should say FX and other types of processors:

AMD...

But how do you know they're compatible? Does it say on their website? I tried looking for them on the lists they gave, but it's not there is it? Thanks bro!

Thanks, and yes here is your deserved best solution! 😉
But on the asrock website it doesn't actually say FX-8350 but only goes up to the FX-8300?

Please this is the last thing, thanks!

It's nothing don't worry about that here are 3 builds that have the same CPU and the Same motherboard that you have.

Wow bro thanks! that is what i needed, thanks!! if i could give you another 'best solution' i would lol thanks.

Did this build work out for you? I have an ASROCK 970 Extreme3 R1 and am debating ordering an 8350 to get me by until intels with the new memory come around. I am worried that the reason these showed up on partpicker is because people just selected the wrong version of their board. I don't see how they could have ordered a R1 of the MB at the same time the 8350 was out.

I am having trouble finding someone who has posted that yes, they put the 8350 in the R1 and it worked..

Well, i'm using the PC right now that I built a few months ago (FYI built after I posted this question).
I can't remember 100% why i changed the Mobo, but I ended up buying the M5A97 R2.0 - from what i can remember, 80% sure this is why, i think because the pricing of the two mobo's were about the same at the time and that my current mobo had better reviews and more usb ports at the back.

Also, seeing that you're building a PC, just wondering is it your first time too?
Took me a lot longer than i anticipated, all day, i was expecting to have my PC up and running within a few hours but nope, took all day. I had loads of moments when i and my mate thought we did something wrong, or we thought something was faulty, took a while to figure out what actually was the problem.

No, I have been building my PCs since the early 90s when I someone gave me a gutted AT&T XT to revive. I never could get the case closed and the HDD just sort of sat there on top of everything but I was thrilled to have something that worked after selling off all my Atari ST stuff. Yeah, it was THAT long ago.

I was planning to buy an 8350 to keep my current PC going until the Haswel-E X99 stuff is in full swing in a few years. However, it looks like the R1 of these ASRock boards doesn't handle the power requirements of the 125W chips well. I was hoping to get some feedback from someone who has actually tried it. It might work with more cooling on the chipset but I am not a fan of unstable builds.

I think it is great that you are taking the plunge and putting together your own comp. Something always seems to come up but solving problems is part of the fun.
