Hi guys and sorry if I’m posting in the wrong place, but I think that I’m having a problem with my motherboard.

So I just built my first gaming PC ever and haven’t even installed Windows on it (I had a black screen with a message of device boot) when I turned it on. But the problem now is that my keyboard or any other device doesn’t work on my pc, I tried all 8 ports (2 on the front panel and 6 on the back) but my keyboard lights don’t turn on. Everything is plugged correctly but I think that my motherboard is defective (the keyboard perfectly works on my laptop).

Any idea or solution?

Check to make sure nothing is jammed into any port. A common one is the motherboard I/O shield. The ones that are removeable have metal tabs that can sometimes short out USB.

Also possible you have a 5V issue in the system. I once ran into a system that would boot, even start booting into Windows, and then shut off. As soon as the USB controller came online it shorted out because there was a faulty SATA power cable.

If you have access to a multi-meter, might be worth checking voltages at all the PSU cable endpoints.
