Hello, I haven't build a computer in quite a long time. My current system is out of date so I've decided to build a new one. I've been out of the game for quite a while so I was hoping some experienced technicians could double check my potential build for compatibility, and optimal performance. Please keep in mind the main purpose of this system will be gaming, graphic design, photo/video editing, and software development.

Case - Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX
MoBo - ASUS SABERTOOTH P67
GPU - EVGA GeForce GTX 580 1.5G
CPU - Intel Core i7 x4 Sandy Bridge 3.8 GHz (w/ ZEROtherm Nirvana cpu cooler)
PSU - Rosewill Xtreme Series 850w
RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600
SPU - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty

The power supply does not have the required 8pin PCIE connectors for the video card.

Thanks very much Rick. That's exactly the type of reply I was hoping for. I have replaced the PSU in my shopping cart with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 . Which is also cool because Corsair is known to be a great brand and this particular model is 80+ certified.

Exactly which cpu are you talking about, the 2500K or 2600K?
For gaming, the 2500K is great, but for editing, the extra hyperthreads would be worth it on the 2600K.

The GTX580 needs 600w with 42a on the 12v rails plus one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI-E power lead.
The card will come with a 6/8 pin adapter if you need one.
If you are planning on sli GTX580, you might want to go stronger on the psu. Otherwise, go weaker.

I would ditch the sound card until you try onboard sound. You can always add one later.

What will you do for hard drives?

I suggest a 80-120gb SSD for the os and apps. It makes your pc feel quick.

CPU is the 2600K, will overclock to 3.9GHz from 3.4 GHz

I figured 650-700 watt PSU would be about what I need for the video card, the extra wattage is for the all the aftermarket fans / heat sincs / cosmetic lighting I'm planning on adding to the system. Such as: dedicated VGA cooler, memory fans, memory fan, exceptionally large CPU cooler, and an assortment of quite a few cosmetic cathode and neon lights.

And no, I'm not planning on utilizing SLI on the GPU simply because newegg does not currently carrySLI bridges...only crossfire bridges...I know that's a terrible reason to decide not to SLI..but my mind works in mysterious ways lol!

And for the hard drives I'm getting a 120GB SSD for the OS and it's Linux partition; and a 1.5TB 7200 RPM HDD for storage.

It is not wrong to over provision the psu a bit. It will not get as noisy under maximum load.
But, the psu guidelines are based on the graphics configuration which is the major factor, and assumes a normal complement of peripherals etc.
Overclocking fans, etc add a negligible requirement to power.

Don't worry about sli, your motherboard will come with a sli bridge.

That said, I am not a fan of cf/sli if a single card will do the job.

The Antec 900 is fine, but the 902 has a few upgrades.
