Hi folks...
I have a Asus R510D laptop that is overheating. I am looking for a replacement fan for it. The Asus is running Windows 10, but I can't remember if it is 32 bit or 64 bit. When I boot the laptop, I can get to the sign on screen asking for my password. But then the computer shuts down. In the past it would only run for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before it would shut down. I wish my girlfriend would have told me she was having issues with it before it got so bad.... Anyway....
I need to access the data on the hard drive in this laptop. So I removed the hard drive, and put it in a USB 2.0 adapter case. The adaptop case has two USB 2.0 plugs on it. I think this is for accessing enought power from the USB port (s) to power up the hard drive. The drive is a 5400 RPM mechanical hard drive. I plugged the hard rive into a USB port on my windows 10 desktop. The desktop said that windows could not access the hard drive and it was probably broken. I moved the hard drive in it's USB 2.0 adapter to another computer running windows 10. I received the same error message. Both of my windows 10 computers are 64 bit. I tried different USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. I can hear the drive spin up when it is pluged into a USB 2.0 port. When the drive in plugged into a USB 2.0 port the light on the USB 2.0 adapter turns on.
I went to control panel and selected admin tools, computer management, disk management. It could not see the hard drive. I rebooted the desktop. Same issue.
My desktop computer has a port where you can plug in a laptop hard drive or a desktop hard drive. I plugged the laptop hard drive into this port and had the same issue.
I will have access to another computer running Windows 7, 64 bit in a few days. I will plug this hard drive into it and see if it can recognize it.
My questions....
If the asus laptop is 32 bit, will any of my 64 bit computers be able to see it?
If that is not the issues, why is it that my two windows 10 computers can not see this hard drive?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
