Help setting up my new asus monitor

Its a vg248QE and I'm new to PC. The monitor came with a 2 power cables, one american and one british, a dvi cable and what seems to be an auxiliary cable. The ports on the monitor also show a port with a P symbol on it. Where do these wires go? And do i need a hdmi cable too as it has an hdmi slot?

It depends on the available ports on the graphics card.

Yeah its the Asus GeForce® GTX 970 STRIX DCU II OC Graphics Card. So i dont need to worry about the P port then?

If i wanted to have a 3 monitor setup with the asus vg248qe, i could only have a max of 3 because there are only 3 display ports?

Practically, yes, but there are solutions like http://www.displayport.org/cables/driving-multiple-displays-from-a-single-displayport-output/ that allow you to use more than 3 monitors.
However, for regular use you won't need more than 3, I guess.
