Hi,

My problem is that I'm trying to prioritise the traffic on my network to a Raspberry Pi which is running KODI and make the lowest priority for the traffic to another raspberry pi that is running a torrent program (I only want it to use bandwidth when the network has bandwidth to spare). Both devices are connected by ethernet and have static IPs.

I've found the page to adjust the QoS on my router but I'm afraid that I don't know what most of the settings mean or which options to select. The screen I'm on is described in p54 of the manual.

http://www.movistar.es/rpmm/estaticos/residencial/fijo/banda-ancha-adsl/manuales/modem-router-inalambricos-adsl/manufacturers-user-manual-observa-aw4062.pdf

Hopefully, I've provided all the info that you need but please let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Cheers,
Steve

You have a lot of major issues. First this router is extremely limited in its QoS. Like most routers it can only limit the upload rates and I suspect you are overloading your download rates. There is no way to implement the concept of "spare bandwidth" on the download side, the ISP is in full control and they treat all traffic equally. Even very advanced routes than have some ability to limit download traffic all you can do is try to prevent some device from exceeding some preset limit.

The largest issue you have is you are attempting to limit a torrent program with QoS. Torrent is designed to resist attempts to limit its traffic rates. ISP hate torrent and have tried to limit it and the torrent code is updated to make these ISP setting ineffective. The ISP tired QoS years ago and their routers have extremely advanced setting for QoS and torrent pretty much gets around all of them.

The only way you limit torrent is to set the option in the client and it has no ability to know about other traffic.
