Hi all

I'm working on a 3 year old machine that has a mainboard with the ethernet,
sound, video, USB etc... right onboard. I've installed Windows 2000 on this
machine, but none of the onboard components are being recognized.

Using Belarc Advisor, I've determined that I've got an Acer ALi 1631 1.0
board... or is that a chip set? I've been swinging in the dark for the past
couple of days, and have no idea what kind of board I'm working with, or
what drivers I need.

In the Device Manager, I've got 4 question marks under "Other devices":

- Ethernet Controller
- Multimedia Audio Controller
- PCI Simple Communications Controller
- Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

Can anyone help me out here? If more information is required from me,
please let me know and I'll get it to you as soon as possible...

Thank you so much...

The motherboard may have some markings on it to help you identify...
or the serial number reported by the BIOS at power-up might help.

Ok...

The BIOS is American Megatrends, but I didn't see any serial number
information at bootup.

I did notice that in the BIOS settings there were some "onboard" features
that could be enabled or disabled... could this be the root of the problem?
Maybe I should list out the options that are being presented....

What do you guys think?
