Hello guys,
Just got a Dell Vostro 5880 and want to upgrade ram to 16GB. Current ram is Hynix HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN 3200 Mhz CL22, but the Dell website specs says the memory runs at 2933MHz. Can I upgrade to 16GB of 3200MHz ram and does it have to be a latency of 22. The BIOS does not support Intel XMP, but I want a set of CL16 modules. Can I get these:

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Veng...604233215&sprefix=ddr4+3200+16,aps,261&sr=8-4

Or do I have to stick with CL22 modules like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC4-...=crucial+ddr4+3200+16gb&qid=1604293583&sr=8-4

Thanks!

The issue with Dell is not the CL but hitting the 3200MHz speed.
Some RAM defaults to 2133MHz on Dell systems.

Before installing RAM, reset the BIOS and power off.
Install RAM, the get into the BIOS and configure any settings as you might want to change.

The current RAM installed is hitting the 2933MHz, but is a 3200MHz chip. I didnt see anything in the BIOS where I could tweak anything. So any good 3200 ram would be ok?

I think that unless you have a 490z motherboard you will have to live with the 2933mhz. I am assuming your cpu is the i7-10700. but it should not matter if you use the 3200mhz ram. Most ram videos i have seen that address this say the difference in speed is negligible.
