HELP We want Minecraft but new computer has W8

Help! We don't know much about computers. Our old computer would not play Minecraft because it was, well... too old. So we bought an HP Envy laptop with Windows 8. Apparently Minecraft is not supported on Windows 8 ????
How do we get Windows 7?
How do we make one general desktop/tool bar for simplicity?

Do we take back the laptop and get a computer that has Windows 7? We bought it over Thanksgiving at a discount so I am really disappointed.

We just need iTunes and Minecraft. Suggestions? Thanks!
