help windows 8 update

hello i just bought a computer for about less then a week ago and today before i could shut down my computer i had to update it so i did. It said something about 113 updates and the when it came to about the 23 then screen whent all black i thought it was just going to be so for some minutes so i waited for 1 hour but it still was black so i had to shut down the computer by holding the power button.After i shutted down the computer i started it again and the asus thingi came up in the startup and it was loading for longer time then before but after that the computer continiud the update and was done in about 1 minute. My question is did my computer get damaged when i turn off the computer when it was black screen?
i just want to mention i accedently turned off the computer by draging the cable some days ago could that have also damaged the computer?
