Hi people,
Guru required. I've just upgraded my system and when
booting it says it has detected new hardware etc. and it gives me 5 options
ranging from safemode to a normal start. No matter what I pick it just
reboots again. Have I changed too much hardware? I'm about to format my hard
drive (which boots fine when I move drive & video card back to the old
case). Is it the same ram problem as Brett reported below? If so exactly
what do I change in the BIOS.

My components are :-
3.0 Ghz P4 prescott
ANTEC True blue 480 Watt power supply
Abit IC7-MAX3 "Canterwood" (Socket 478) Motherboard
ATI 9800 XT
120 Gb Western digital Se
1GB Corsair DDR XMS3200XL Pro TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2

All help appreciated. Thanks in anticipation,

Sideshow Bob

you could try an install-over

Almost always when you upgrade hardware like mobo and processor you have to
do at least a repair install.
But starting from a clean slate is at least much safer and tidier...

you ran into XP's copy protection.
Your only hope, as far as I know, is to do a repair install. Not the repair
console thing, but a repair install. If you have that option, that should
put you back in business. It's like when you used to load win9X over itself
to get it going agian.

Do a repair install on the existing installation.
I.e. press R the SECOND that is a possibility...
