Hey guys,

I’m new to PC builds but excited built my first with some parts from a friend and have subsequently had 2 BSOD issues consistently happening when running games. (Clock watchdog timeout; and Machine Check exception)

Attempted fixes so far:
I’ve had tech support from windows do a clean install and update 3 times.
Windows tech reinstalled GPU driver
I’ve run a driver updated and everything appears up to date.
Removed RAM & GPU and put back on to check for correct instillation.

I’m still getting the issues. I setup windows to creat a mini dump on crashes as I read that is helpful but can’t open them (not that I would know how to decipher anyways lol)

Crashes can happen 2 mins into games or 45. Multiple games so not any 1 thing.

Can anyone help guide me? I’m hours deep and not successful

Thanks in advance

Razer was the victim, not the cause.

almost said there was a new bios but Google was showing me a VIII not a 7
that motherboard link doesn't work anymore. Asus decided its time to forget lga 1150?

i think its hardware of some kind, Machine Check Exception & Clock Watchdog Timeout are both hardware errors.
werfault.exe - Windows Error Reporting
amazing it can crash and also report the BSOD.

CPU- I5-4690k (not overclocking)
Motherboards Asus Maximus Hero 7
GPU - EVGA GTX 770

CPU cooler - Corsair H60 54 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
WD Blue 1tb
PSU - Corsair TXM Gold 650w

what are the rest of the parts in the PC?

Both errors are hardware related.

Open Windows File Explorer

Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop

Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows

Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)

Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .

You have the latest stable BIOS already installed.

Hi, please create a new folder for all new dumps each time. Otherwise I have to go back and look at previous posts and try to determine which dumps that I've already looked at and which ones I haven't yet. Thanks.

I think I have the right dumps this time. Results: https://jsfiddle.net/072cts4m/show This link is for anyone wanting to help. You do not have to view it. It is safe to "run the fiddle" as the page asks.

How much is new?

Probably need to test it all anyway as don't know if its okay. No base line to work from.

Have you tried running on Ethernet and not WIFI, just to see if its your Wi-Fi card

run this on CPU - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool
run this on ram - Try running memtest86 on each of your ram sticks, one stick at a time, up to 4 passes. Only error count you want is 0, any higher could be cause of the BSOD. Remove/replace ram sticks with errors. Memtest is created as a bootable USB so that you don’t need windows to run it
try running this on HDD - https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en&p=279
no tests for Motherboard, you test everything else
PSU -
the paper clip method - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/what-is-the-paperclip-method-of-testing-a-psu.1336402/

or multimeter, best way as can test under load

or in the BIOS to check the +3.3V, +5V, and +12V. - https://www.lifewire.com/power-supply-voltage-tolerances-2624583

GPU - these are more to see if you crash, I don't need the test results. Don't run both at once

I think @Colif may have missed the reply last time. I have notified him now.

I wasn't far away Gardenman lol. Just typing. I saw you reply.. yeah, I been a while.

I had the same problem when I did my upgrade couple month ago, I think it caused by some drivers incapable with windows. Not sure what version of windows you got from tech support but if you download the latest windows from msft website and use a flash drive to (32g or more) to create a boot disk and do it yourself, and it should come with drivers compatible with most gpu and Lan device
