So. I've been researching and looking for better ways to improve my audio quality in my speakers and my headphones. I'll get all the speakers and headset and motherboard out of the way now.

Speakers:logitech z506 both rear speakers removed.
Headphone: sennheiser bt450 using aux mode.
Motherboard:msi gaming 970 with realtek audio drivers.

So. My speakers. The main green cable is hooked up. As well as the tan orange one. So my left and right is controlled by green. And sub and center controlled by tan/orange. That's all dandy and it works great. My motherboard supports it and it sounds great.

Well. My question is, what could I do to get a better surround sound experience? My speakers are just basic. And in some games the center speaker is used. But oftentimes not. But content that is made with 3d surround sound of any kind does work.

My speakers I dont know if I can do anymore with. It's as crispy as it gets I think. But my headphones.

My headphones could use some more surround sound experience when gaming. And I tried the trial of Dolby access and dts:x for headphones and it's amazing. I just dont know what one to pick.

Basically any tips I should have? And any idea on if I should choose Dolby access or dts:x for spatial sound for my headphones!!

Solution
First off, I'd reconnect the rear speakers of the Logitech Z506 and have the placement of the speakers in a way whereby you gain the advantage of surround sound. Speaking of connections, how are you paired with the speakers(sub input) and the motherboard?

As for your headphones, sound is a subjective matter just like how you might like one food/cuisine and you might not like the other while others might do the exact opposite. You should pick the one you like after doing a qualitative and quantitative analysis over a long time, not just hours but more like days or weeks of listening on your headphones and content.

I cant understand you're main speaker question. But I'll explain it in the way I believe your asking.
All of my speakers are connected to the back of the sub. (Left. Right. center.) And then the sub acts as the amp and what not. My computer has a built in realtek dac in the motherboard. My sub then connects to my computer from the line in aux cable. (Green to green) Anf that connects my left and right speaker. Then on the sub their is a orange/tan aux jack. I used a random aux cable to connect the orange and tan jack on the sub. To the center/sub on my motherboard.

I do have 7 days to test both Dolby access and dts:x I'm just trying to figure out what games support more of each sound. Etc. Borderlands 3 seems to be great for both and sound was built according to both. So for the next few days I'll just only wear headphones and see what one I prefer.

I could reconnect my rear surround speakers. Issue is that I cant put them behind me. The best I could do is having them on the far right. And left corner of my desk. Closet to my back of my ears. Would this still create a surround experience? And do I have the rear speakers facing kinda towards my ears or facing more to the back of the room?

Thank you!!
