I wonder if an expert in this field can answer this question for me??

I have an Asus N13219 m/board currently with 2 x 500mb dimms.

I wish to upgrade to the maximum 2 x 2gb dimms if possible but can only find what are described as Server dimms. Can I use these DDR-400 PC3200 memory chips in my Pc as the motherboard does support the capacity at least. Would there be anything else to consider such as buffered or not??

Thank you in anticipation.

You just need to know that, can it compatible with the motherboard. Because some motherboards only supports 1 GB RAM per slot. So check that. Second thing, Double Data Rate(DDR) version must be same. Also You have to see upto which frequency your CPU supports the memory, If it is less than that then you are on the go. If these things are ok, then you can get the RAM. :)

Many thanks for your time on this. I realise that the board and CPU have to support the ram chips capacity and frequency. I have tried so far in vein to acquire a manual despite Asus not having it available. I will persevere. The chips are advertised as server compatible so they should also be suitable for my Pc board shouldn't they assuming my board supports the frequency and capacity??

Thanks again
