I have two of these monitors. One is a year old and the one on the right is brand new - the new one just looks horrible and washed out/foggy in comparison to the old one (right). They are both no factory settings and displaying a solid black screen.. I've adjusted brightness/gamma/contrast for hours and it still doesn't come close to looking like the same blacks.. other colors are off as well.. is this a backlight bleedthrough or something else? I didn't think it was bleedthrough because it is uniform through out. And can it be fixed? I'm set to send it off to ACER but not sure if its worth it because they are pretty terrible with CS and I have a feeling ill get it sent back saying its perfectly fine.

Anyone have any opinions or advice?

Thanks!

Edit: well im trying to include the picture but can't find the option

one is HDMI other is DVI.. I've tried it with 1 alone and tried DVI and HDMI on the new one and its always the same result - is there a way to post a picture on here or will I need to link it from photobucket or some sit?

Are they both the same model number? This could just be a result of the older model having dimmed slightly over time, a different manufacturing crop out of the factory looking different than the one you bought a year ago, or a defect with that particular monitor.

I doubt sending it in for repairs will do anything, is it too late to RMA it?

ACER doesn't offer RMA only repairs.. and I bought it through newegg who doesn't seem to deal with monitors.. not for RMAs exchanges atleast.

Its the exact same model the S231HL. I don't think its dimmed because one looks like a real, deep black (the one on the left) - the other just has a blaring light through the back that makes it look foggy and makes words harder to read on the screen and adjusting the brightness doesn't help.

I might be able to get a refund from newegg but I know I have to pay $22 to ship it back on a $130 monitor.. so I'm not sure.
