Hey guys so i'm running Windows 10 on my PC I stopped playing games for a little so I just stopped using my PC in general. After a while I factory reset my computer and now my mic wont work on the computer I tried watching videos on it I uninstalled my mic then installed it and it wont work before I reset my PC it worked perfectly, fine I've used multiple headphones and all the headphone jacks in my computer it just wont work.

Specs:
Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i5 6500k @ 3.20GHz
Mother Board: Asus B150-PRO D3
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB

Solution
Only way microphone wouldn't use audio jacks and and internal audio chip would be if it's a digital mic and connected by USB. Do you have Realtek HD Audio control in Control Panel or in taskbar ? Also in Control Panel > Sound > Recording should be able to adjust input level and see the bar beside Microphone pulsate when you speak into it.
Your MB uses "Realtek® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC *2" so you probably don't have appropriate drivers for it. You can get them from Asus directly.
It's also possible that HDMI is set as default sound device so check in Control Panel > Sound > Recording.

I just checked HDMI is not my default sound device and I updated my drivers and it still wont work. From what I hear and see it seems like instead of using audio from the actual mic its just using audio from the headphones/PC so nothing new changed, really irritating.
