[SOLVED] Help with benq xl2411z on a laptop

I have a legion 5i laptop and have a benq xl2411z 144hz monitor. I want to use the monitor at 144hz. The monitor only has DVI, HDMI, VGA ports, and the laptop has an HDMI 2.0 port. In order to get 144hz would i need a hdmi 2.0 cable that supports 1080p 144hz or would i be able to use a hdmi to dvi adapter or something similar for 144hz

The monitor does not have hdmi 2.0 and there are no hdmi to dvi dual link adapters. You can't use 144hz on that laptop with that monitor. You need a monitor with hdmi 2.0 or dp.

the cable is also compatible with hdmi 1.4 and some other ones. would that still work?

You can't use 1080p 144hz on that laptop with that monitor.
