Hey guys

I'm looking for a budget friendly build $500 or less that will work with a 21:9 aspect ratios 1440p monitor using display port. This is just a temporary holdover until the new Pascal GPU is release and then I will probably get the next GPU that is better than the current 980ti since it will also be cheaper as well. I don't plan on buying the top of the line but rather be a smart buyer and know what is the best bang for your buck items and technique. The only component I think that would be temporary is the mobo, cpu, and gpu as the rest will be used for my final build.

I can't just upgrade my GPU without upgrading to a new mobo and cpu since it will either bottleneck or not work. You guys help me with my first build back in 09 before pc part picker was around I think and I had an above average computer hardware last go around. I'm still using that build of a Radeon HD 5850 but it has worn out its welcome as I cannot run any new game at playable fps any longer.

Thanks guys!

i totally gotcha now. if you can afford to spend a bit more on an r9 390 i'd highly recommend it. big upgrade and totally worth it. that would put you on ultra settings with 1080p games.

yea but you are way too vague. i look at this and ask...

are you planning on keeping some of the parts from the old build?
when do you plan to do this upgrade?
will you need an operating system? you probably do with a new motherboard.
do you need new peripherals like keyboard, mouse, monitor included with this $500?
why do you feel like you have a bottleneck?
why not just save and wait till pascal comes out for the whole upgrade? you don't know what requirements pascal cards have.
is there something wrong with your current build that is prompting you to upgrade now?

Now, i kind of think you are trying to say you want to upgrade some parts with $500 now, excluding a GPU. Then, use those parts for a new, final build build later. Then, upgrade to a pascal gpu when it is released. Essentially, doing three separate upgrades.

but you didnt say that!!!

how are we going to recommend upgrades without any info other than the graphics card on your current build?

N3rdR4ge - wow i love your name!

Thank you for being specific, I guess I was broad only cause it lead to more advice in my opinion.

I don't plan on keeping the mobo, gpu, and cpu as it only temporary. I don't need an operating system or any peripheral.

I bottleneck cause I can't run Witcher 3 in 1080p and that was the breaking point for me. Reason I'm upgrading is I want to buy an LG UW 21:9 ratios HDTV but my current gpu does not have a display port so I would be stuck with HDMI 1.4 which cannot go past 50 hertz which is in my opinion not really ideal.

I really want a large monitor regardless and I'm already good at League of Legend (diamond rank) but with more "cheat" screen real estate, it just really going to take me so much further. It really is like a dream cheat whatever you want to call it.

Right now I don't really run any new game on my PC (hence why I bought consoles) other than Original Sin which is an amazing game but I would not dare touch games like Phantom Pain, Just Cause 3, and etc...

Waiting for Pascal is going to take forever and life is about living and enjoying. I make enough to support myself and try to enjoy and being in so many near death experience including MCD (mad cow disease) (I thought I contracted it), life is short period. Money can be replace but time cannot. You waste out on time, no amount of money can fix that.

Yes that is what I'm saying. To be stuck with an 09 above average build (but still weaker than my Ps4) it just not right.

I hope that was more specific? Thanks mate!

thanks :)

yea i understand more now.

now the thing i need from you is your current builds parts so we can upgrade you properly. i need model numbers here. www.pcpartpicker.com is a good website to put together your old build and post here if you can figure it out. im sure we can salvage parts from your 09 build and get you something really good for your budget. to do this, i gotta know what we are working with. $500 isnt enough for a new, decent gaming build, but its plenty for an upgrade.

I had to contact Neweggs to get my parts but here it is. Oh, I forgot to mention $500 is only for the cpu, gpu, and mobo as the rest will cost more money and will be part of my permanent build.

I'm not able to find the parts on PC partpicker but here are the links to all of my parts that is on partpicker.
