Help with comapring laptops?

Dad was looking for some laptops and I he asked me to help with a choice between two. Both are from JB HI FI and are in Australian Dollars (AUD).

#1) Acer Aspire ES1-531-P8NJ 15.6" Notebook (Refurbished) $398
#2) Acer Aspire One AO1-431-C49D 14" Notebook $298

Which has a better price/performace ratio? WIll the Acer Aspire (#1) be enough for music editing, web browsing and basic things like that for ~5 years?

I'm usually pretty knowledgable with PC hardware, but more so desktops then laptops and I am INCREDIBLY busy at the moment. Any help is appreciated.

Go with the first one.
It has Pentium quad core with 8GB of RAM.
