While cleaning my PC and installing new case fans I used the on board power switch to test the fans. This caused BIOS settings to be changed after it stated latest overclock failed. I used the MAX FSB BIOS option to apply auto high performance settings but some settings were under-clocked while some voltages were put in the red. I am trying to get my settings to at least NOT be under-clocked. I would like a slight overclock preferably. My computer stays clean, has plenty of airflow, cables tied out of the way and has 3 internal case fans. It runs cool according to Everest sensor information.
Here is some info on my PC.
CPU = Quad Core Intel i7 950 Bloomfield
MOBO = MSI X58M (MS-7593)
Chipset = Intel Tylersburg X58
BIOS = American Megatrends V3.8
Info from Everest
CPU Clock = 2465 mhz (original 3066 mhz) 205 x 12
CPU FSB = 205 mhz (original 133 mhz 54% overclock)
CPU Multiplier = 12
QPI Clock = 3698 mhz
Memory Bus = 616 mhz
Dram:FSB ratio 3:1
The following are the BIOS settings I am currently concerned with changing. choices in ()
Intel EIST = disabled
Base Clock = 205 (100-400)
CPU ratio = 12 (12-24)
Adjusted core freq = 2460
QPI link speed = high speed mode
QPI Freq = 4.800GT
Memory bus ratio = 3 (3-8)
Adjusted Dram Freq = 1230
Uncore ratio 6 (6-24)
CPU Amplitude control = 800mv (700 - 1000)
PCI Express Amplitude control = 800mv (700 - 1000)
CPU CLK Skew = normal (100-1500ps)
IOH CLK Skew = normal (100-1500ps)
Adjust PCI E Freq = 100mhz (100-200)
CPU load line calibration = enabled
CPU voltage = +0.18
CPU vcore = 1.12
CPU PLL voltage = auto,default
QPI voltage = 1.5
Dram voltage = 1.5
spread spectrum enabled
With the current settings the CPU Core Freq. is exactly twice the value of the Adjust Dram Freq. I read that it was good to have those 2 values as multiples of each other. My CPU is by default supposed to run at 3066 mhz so I feel like i'm under-clocked there. My RAM is supposed to run at least 1333 mhz so I feel like i'm under-clocked there too. Base clock (FSB) at 205 is itself already overclocked so I assume I need to increase CPU ratio, but by how much? What should I set my Memory Bus ratio and Uncore ratio to? I'm looking for a slight overclock but at the very least please help me to NOT be under-clocked. Are my voltages right? When I used Max FSB option for BIOS to auto set these it set my Dram voltage to 1.65 which was in the red so i backed it down to 1.5. I don't want any BIOS settings in the red.
A seperate issue - the reason I listed the PCI-E freq here is that I have a PCI-E 3.0 card in a PCI-E 2.0 slot so I know the card should be able to handle higher settings than this motherboard allows at 2.0
I would appreciate any help with these settings.
