Hi so im deciding to build a pc for the summer and im not sure which chipset to get because i will be doing some school work using programs like catia, solidworks, autocad etc... Also i want to be able to play some games on the side ex. gta v. So overall what is the best chipset for a hybrid workstation/gaming pc? (also im from canada)

so whats your opinion about the x99 chipset and how long do you think the z97/h97 chipsets will last before they are obsolete

Because ill be using this for some programs like autocad and a few games what do you think is the best build?

I don't know much about the x99. I would have went z97, but I don't overclock and I found a really great asus H97 board for $105.

Honestly, it's been like a decade since I've gotten to use more than 1 processor on the same board. I keep my build for 3-5 years, and then the processor, mobo, and memory get replaced. Don't buy for the future. Buy what is best for you now. Plus, I thought the LGA1150 socket is nearing the end of its life cycle.
