I recently added another set of RAM to my system: G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 2x32GB 6000 MHz, giving me a total of 128 GB (4x32GB). However, I'm running into some issues:
- When I enable EXPO, the PC won’t boot.
- Clearing the CMOS allows the PC to boot, but only with the RAM running at 3600 MHz.
- Updated the BIOS to the latest version.
- Played around with some manual memory settings in the BIOS, like memory try it or instead of 6000 mhz put it at 4800mhz or 4000mhz but it would only boot at 3600mhz default cmos.
My questions:
- Has anyone with the MSI MPG X670E Carbon motherboard experienced similar issues with DDR5 and EXPO? If so, did you manage to fix it?
- Has anyone successfully overclocked this RAM manually on the same board? If so, what settings did you use? I’m new to manual RAM overclocking, so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
- Is it better to run 128 GB at 3600 MHz or stick with 64 GB at 6000 MHz? I’m worried about making my system slower because of the mismatched settings, but I can’t return the new RAM to the store.
My PC specs:
- Motherboard: MSI MPG X670E Carbon
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 4080
- PSU: 1000W (6+ years old)
