So I have the ASUS G551JW-DS71 that has the gtx960m, and i have noticed that everytime my temps go near 75 the gpu clock goes down, therefore i cannot play any game comfortably, and this laptops is supposedly for gaming.
Could anyone help me with this issue

Do I need to change the temp limits, if so, how?
Should I keep my laptop cooler?

What should I do, please I just bought this computer 10 days ago and its driving me insane not being able to play even KSP.

Solution
The GTX960m within the Asus G551JW has a thermal threshold of 74 degrees. Asus has basically said "Oh well" and have not done shit about this. The only solution is to kick the fans up to 100% every time you play, in an effort to avoid this threshold. You can do this using the Notebook FanControl application, which you can download here:

Use the Asus UX31A profile. Good luck with your laptop.

Like fayari said, when ASUS made the ROG 551-JW, they set the thermal threshold at 74 degrees. They've uploaded a Bios update (risky) on their website that raises to threshold to 79 (big difference from results)

There's also a beta bios that raises it to 82.

At some point or another, both would have been posted on the Asus ROG forums. GL551 divison.
