Help with HP Deskjet 1050 J410 Series?

I am so busy and thought I would try to refill my cartridges but this printer just will not let me do that! I don't know what to do. I have tried almost everything I'm sure. Then the scanner broke, it stopped working, I can't make copies and I don't know what to do. Is there a printer that will let me use refillable ink cartridges?

a lot of printer vendor use ink tanks with smart chips in them. lot of the newer printer wont work with refilled units.

I don't mind getting an old one but how do I go about getting the right one? I saw one user who said he had an I250 Canon and that he didn't have any regrets. So I guess what I'm asking is how old of a printer do I need to try to find?
