Help with increasing wifi signal across the house

Not sure if this is the proper place to post this but oh well....
I recently purchased a new laptop and have been having trouble getting a solid connection in my room (router is positioned far away). In order to increase my signal strength what other options are there? Do I set up a second router? Does the second router work as like a repeater?

Was just hoping someone here could point me in the right direction as to where I should start working on this issue.
I have a Verizon connection with coax wiring in my home.

You are able to connect multiple router's to the same network to boost the range, so I'd go with that. Otherwise, you can get a Repeater.

FYI, you'd need to use an Ethernet cable to hook the two routers together, though, whereas most repeaters are wireless

try these options :

2.Try using a better antenna for the router or try upgrading the router.
3.try using a repeater.

A Wireless Repeater is probably your cheapest option. I got one for my kitchen and it seems to work nicely.

A wireless repeater would be a cost effective and simple option to solve this issue. The alternate would be setting up a second router, and configuring it as a repeater.
