Below is a picture of my messy home networking area. I'm stumped as to how I can clean this up and/or maybe conceal it safely (air flow). The routing of cabling bothers me the most. Any ideas?

Equipment consists of cable modem, wireless router, gigabit switch, NAS server, 2 x VMware ESXi servers, external backup hard drive, 2 x coaxial splitters (cable and HDTV) and about 15 total runs of Cat 6 and coaxial cabling (there's 10 to 15 feet of slack for each run because this spot is temporary - all the equipment will most likely be moved when the basement is remodeled in the future).

first thing that comes to mind is you need some double sided Velcro. The stuff I am referring to comes in long lengths and can be cut to size. besides that for now shorter wires. I understand the need for long ones but it will kill the clean look having massively overly long wires.

just as a joke: a white sheet over the cables hanging up to hide them. Build a closet around it with a fan for circulation. never go in that part of the house.

My wife actually helped me with the current attempt at organization you see, LOL! The peg hooks for cable management was her idea.

The NAS is for TV shows and movies. The two desktops running ESXi are for my numerous entrepreneurial projects.

ooooh... I misunderstood. I thought the suggestions were implying there's a organizational system I could implement using some special kind of velcro. I'm actually already using velcro and zip ties to roll up the cables onto the peg hooks. I guess I'm looking for a better design for rolling up the cables so they look more uniformed and, err..., organized (sorry I can't find a better word).

then in that case IF you can not organize all cables to be on one hook you have no organizational skills. because that is your only option. you have many feet of cables at this point. your options are as follows

1 hide it some how.
2 put it all on one hook
3 put it all on one hook and hide it.
4 shorten your cords.
5 OR just don't look at it.

at this point your options are limited. we have given the options you need to pick witch fits your needs the best.
