So i just got this Acer S240HL 60hz 1080p monitor and i have always heard about overclocking monitors but never really learned about it. So i looked it up and it seems some people are able to get the same monitor up to 70hz+.

So how does one go about doing that can i just change the hertz in windows display settings? I have the option to. Is there more to it? Will it damage the monitor? I have never tried to do this before just looking for some general insight. Thanks.

Windows options should not be showing higher hz than the monitor can run. You can see if you can select it though. Otherwise you have to create custom res in nvidia control panel which then will show more hz options in windows. Then you can go test frame skipping. Ocing monitors is the same effects as ocing anything. You can possibly damage it although with no voltage controls, it's limited but you are still running it higher than stock.

Thanks, windows will let me select a bunch of options up to 120hz i dont know why im positive the monitor is only 60hz. Maybe im mistaking i will look again when i get home to make sure and let you know.

Ok got it up to 66hz any higher than that and it says "input not supported" on the monitor. Did the frame skip test that looked good. I did this using a DVI-D cable and i have heard some people get higher overclocks on HDMI, do you think that's possible? I dont even have and HDMI cord right now for some reason, might pick one up to give it a try.
