So I’m switching from Intel to AMD. And let me say I am very confused with the different combinations of stuff with AMD.

I’ve read that you can get B450 motherboards and have to flash the BIOS etc and you can get ram that’s gonna help or hurt the CPU, the correct timing ? and all the info is kind of hard to understand.

I’m thinking I want an X570 mobo with 3200 RAM? I’m wanting a combination to where I can just put everything in, turn it on, and start gaming and utilizing my new stuff.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good mobo for $100 to $150? I’ve read the ASrock phantom mobo is good. Gigabytes also.

Thanks In advance!

Wonderful. I already have bought the 3600x tho will that still work with these two boards and RAM?

I'm sorry. Only the tomahawk max will take your 3600x out of the box without a BIOS update. So I recommend you buy the tomahawk max. The Carbon AC requires a BIOS update to work with the 3600x. So get the tomahawk max. The max in the name means (Ready for the ryzen 3000 series out of the box).

It will work with that board and the ram i posted.

Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Best Buy)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($83.99 @ Newegg)

Have fun with your new system! I know I have fun with the one I built 2 weeks ago :)

The tomahawk max is a good board and the carbon AC too. The X570 board are not cheap and the one I would recommend minimum is the X570 TUF GAMING at 200 dollars. For the RAM you can use 3600MHz without problems. The 3 boards I mentioned does have good VRM's on them.

EDIT: The MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC needs a BIOS update to support the 3600x so forget that board :) Go for the tomahawk max B450 or the X570 TUF GAMING.

Perfect! Just for fun, if I wanted to go for an RGB setup. Could I use the Gskill trident Z ram? Also do they have any compatible RGB mobos?

If you want some RGB RAM you can get one of these 2. I bought the NEO for my build.

You can use them with the tomahawk max. The RGB is controlled with a software inside the OS.
