Hi, Im relatively (very) new to the detailed process of building a computer. After some decent research Ive gathered a list of components to build a pc but i would like some advice on any upgrading/downgrading/exchanging of my current gear to maximize the abilities of my computer.

My computer is primarily going to be used for MMO gaming such as league, WoW, RS, Borderlands, etc, as well as website surfing.

So far l have:

Motherboard:
GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD4H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Yes you can have a SSD and HDD, personally I would get a smaller SSD like 120 or 250gb and get the 1TB HDD as you will save a lot of money by reducing the SSD size. Just make sure to install the operating system on the SSD for fast boot times. (windows or mac/linux, whatever you're going for). Get windows 7/8 depending on personal preference 64bit.

You can get a 500Gb HDD but to be honest for the price of a 1TB the value/performance is really good.

Just looked at the build and its really good, great components, great performance, great looks. now just the finishing touch of a case.
Im going to keep updating this post as I go down the list.

That motherboard wont work with the 4670k, the CPU is a 4th gen so you need a 1150 socket motherboard to support it.

The SSD is fine but it will get filled up quickly. Get a WD HDD I recommend a WD Black 1TB as it has a ton of storage, fantastic HDD and is optimized for gaming and heavy usage.

I would go for this PSU, I prefer EVGA and it's still overkill for what you need but it has a great price tag and is a great PSU.

Im assuming 1155 messes it up then. Do you have a recommendation?

I have a hard time filling up 500g since i clean through my games every now and then but ill look into it. Can l have both SSD and HDD?

And thanks for the recommendations! l'll look at them :)

Well 1155 is for Ivybridge processors (3rd gen processors) the 4670k is a 4th gen CPU (fantastic CPU) also meaning it doesn't work on a z77 (for 3rd gen CPUs). It needs a z87 which does support 4th gen CPUs.

These are great motherboards. They are all 1150 socket meaning they support 4th gen (haswell) CPUs like the 4670k.

MSI Z87-G45-GAMING ATX Motherboard
Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Motherboard
Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Motherboard

You also need a CPU fan cooler, I recommend the Cooler Master 212 Evo, it's cheap and performs really well. Although I recommend getting some low profile RAM so the CPU cooler fits properly (good for if you get 4 sticks of RAM in the future) If you are sticking to two sticks then keep the RAM you have.

okay i changed it to 120g and a 1tb HDD. So ali l have to do is install Windows 8 on the SSD to optimize load times?

Yes, make sure you install it on the SSD as SSDs have much faster read times meaning your PC will turn on super quick. The reason people get a small SSD is because for games a HDD vs SSD doesn't make that much of a difference.
