Hello guys,
I've been reading this forum for a long time and finally decided to make an account.
Computers are my hobby and i decided to build my own PC and move from my old Thinkpad T500 to something more powerful and less frustrating.

So no more introductions, here is the build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6sZkZL

That's what i managed to think of on my own. I live in Bulgaria, so not everything from the PartPicker is available and the prices are a bit different - the same configuration is about 140$ more expensive in BG, so that is the most i can afford.

If you have any suggestions or corrections i will be happy to listen.

The PC will be used for the common things: music, movies, some games - waiting for Fallout 4. And i will be doing some design and pre-press also.

Thank you in advance and be well!

Thank you guys.

I will try to explain my decisions. Hope it won't be too long ... I am not trying to bore you to death 😀

I won't be doing any overclocking(been there, done that). Those times are gone. What i want is quality, reliability and some future proof. Some ppl actually advice me to go for GB B85M-HD3, XEON E3-1231V3 and POWER COLOR AXR7 370. But i am still not sure if i really need the Xeon(most probably not). Besides, i can always switch to a more powerful solution if i feel the need and have a good Motherboard.

For the Motherboard i chose the ATX version, because two things i don't like in the mATX:
1. The Bios battery i placed between the CPU and GPU and if i go with the aftermarket cooler, it will be a pain trying to take it off if needed.
2. The aftermarket cooler will be too close to my GPU, and even if they do not touch i don't like the idea ...
That's it. I don't need the spare slots. All i am concerned about is quality of the components. Is the H97m Anniversary a good pick in that aspect? I haven't used Asrock for a ages and the were pretty bad at that time. Maybe things went well when they separated from Asus?

The aftermarket cooler i chose, because it gets really hot here in the summer. It's even hard to breathe ... So i decided not to torture the CPU too much and make it comfortable for it.

I will go for the WD blue as it was my first choice anyway.
And i3 ... In 100% load it's still a dual core(a beast of a dual core but still ...). Is it not better to go for 4 or more cores as a future proof? Gaming is not that much important for me. I play few games and no 3D shooters among them ... So i prefer to go for balance or am i wrong?

Updated build for you. I managed to get an i5 in there but trust me. for this price range this is about as good as it gets for gaming so i would just get this build if i were you.

trust me, this is way better than your original build.

R9 290 here is much more expensive. The cheapest one i can get is the Powercolor R9 290. which is about 343$ here ... So i should probably stick with 280 or 280X. Will see about that ...
Actually the XFX R9 290X is 430$ ... just checked the prices. 😀

Edit: I haven't seen NZXT S340 before ... i quite like this case.
