Hello, i live in the UK my ISP is BT. I use the router they sent me. Its a standard ISP provided router. I Bought the fastest Internet speed they had. But it used to be fast now its slow. I called them several times and they cant do anything. My Wi-Fi speed suffers the most. I dont even use it anymore because it is so bad. Before i it was very VERY fast. I use Wi-Fi on 2 phones and old iPad 2. Same as before. I was thinking if i get a after market router because i read online that it can boost my WiFi speed, and normal Ethernet speed i use to my PC. Can you guys explain to me if getting a new router will help my WiFi speed and normal Ethernet connection or just wifi? Because i would like to increase speed on both. Can you recommend some routers? I can only spend £80, but less is better :). What i understand is that i can get 1 router for WiFi and 1 for Ethernet? Cant i get 1 new router for both? (Etherent and wifi) THANKS for help.

first off it may not be the router or the isp. it may be that your router is open and people are leaching off of you or if your in a condo with a lot of wifi your all on the same channel and your killing each other speed. for the first part the easy fix is log in change the master password and admin name so nobody can log in and change your settings. the next is to log into the router. make sure it set for b/g/n speeds and has wep or wpa turned on. if it off turn wep on and set a password. make sure when you reboot you only see your devices on the router. run speedtest see if the speed is back. if not go back into the router/wifi device change the channel from it default to 7 or the highest. rerun speed test see if the speed is back. if...

I have done what you asked and the Internet speed went up by 3/4Mbps. Not noticeable improvement. 🙁 When i was testing the WiFi on two iPhones 6. One of them was better than other one. I checked on my settings and i only 1 iphone was conected to 5Gh wifi. and the other was 2.4. I spend 2 hours trying to switch the other one to 5gh but i just wont happen. i found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0091S6SCG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE is this going to help my get better wifi and intenet speed on my pc? Also quick qestion i have cheap (About £4) 30m Ethernet cable i use for my pc upstairs. Can that affect my PC intenet speed?

on your pc if your using a cat 6 or better cable your going to get the max speed from the router. if the router or pc ethernet port is working fine. depending on the age of the router you have now as it not been listed the new unit may be better then old router. if both phones work fine at free hot spots...i would try the new unit if it does not work you should be able to return it within 30 days.
