I bought my PC and set it up last night. I'm using the MSI Z170A Gaming m5 mobo with a i5 6600k cpu. I tried installing win10 but was having some issues, so i went to win7. The LAN drivers are all on MSI's website, and my PC can't connect since it doesnt have them. I only have an older mac to use to try and get them. IS there any way that I could use a USB to get the drivers from this mac to the PC?

Solution
In a similar situation,i downloaded the drivers via mobile phone's browser and transferred it to my pc using usb.Not sure if might this help you.
Z170 motherboards need a usb driver to access the usb ports.
Windows 7 dvds do not have those drivers.
Catch-22.
One solution is to use a sata connected dvd drive to load the drivers that came with your motherboard.

Some Z170 motherboards may have a special USB port that will work without drivers in some legacy mode. Look for that possibility in your motherboard manual.

I tired the installation disc, it won't read it. It'll aknowledge that there is a disk inside, but if I try to run it in Windows explorer, it tells me to insert a disc. Also, the red light on my USB blinks once it's out into once of the two USB2.0 ports, but the menu never shows up and I can't access it.

The reason is that you need a usb driver for the usb port.
Borrow/buy a sata connected cd drive to read the driver cd.

I had this problem.
My asus motherboard had a convoluted method of slipstreaming a windows install to include the drivers.
I had a spare sata ssd so I loaded the drivers on to the ssd from elsewhere and read from the ssd.
You CAN read from a sata connected device.

My CD drive is a SATA connected one. Not sure what else I would have to do. I may just buy a new HDD ( this one is a friends old one. I had just formatted it ) and download win10 since I have a key for it. would that just make everything easier?
