I currently have an SSD with windows 7 on it, and a 2 TB HDD for storage and what not. This second SSD is primarily for some games and a few programs.

Bios and Device manager see the SSD. It does not show up in the my computer window.

Bios shows it as a slave.

What yet do I need to do to gain access?

Ok I looked at your motherboard. It does indeed have an IDE channel. You will either need to go in and turn that off or try moving you drive to another SATA connector. Also your motherboard dos not support SATA 6GB/s so running a SSD on this board is a waist. I highly recommend you get a new motherboard that supports SSDs.

I don't think you can add a partition to a drive when the media type is unknown. The reason the media type is unknown is because his BIOS is not mounting it right. Chances are that he might have to flash his BIOS to a newer version that can recognize his drive. I just wanted to make sure that his mother board is not sharing a channel with an IDE port and that all he had to do was turn off the IDE functions first.

That said you can try it the worst that will happen is it will tell you that you can't do it.

My bet is that a BIOS update might fix your problem.
