Hi,

My current rig :

AMD Phenom II X 4 965 BE
6GB (2GB X 3) transcend DDR3 RAM at 1333
Nvidia (MSI) GTS 450
CoolerMaster RS-400-PSAR-J3 PSU
AOC 18.5" Monitor
Mobo : gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (REV 3.1)
Wo
My upgrade plan :

AMD Phenom II X 4 965 BE
8GB transcend DDR3 RAM at 1333
HD 7870 or 7850
CoolerMaster RS-400-PSAR-J3 PSU (gotta upgrade this too to some 550 Watts)
1080p HD monitor (about 27 inch)
Mobo : gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 (REV 3.1)

My questions

Saw the graphic card hierarchy chart and I want some good quality for gaming and I've been off the market updates since the past one and a half year due to personal reasons and I also saw and read some threads, yet I need some pro advice.

1) which GPU would you recommend for me? I am deciding on 7850 or 7870 (Open to Nvidia as well)
2) hope my cpu is not a bottleneck
3) I have to upgrade my PSU to 550 watts. -> is that ok?
4) something about PhysX - is PhysX something to worry about?? Been through many threads and am not clear about its future.
5) PCIe 2.0 - a question asked many times and answered that 2.0 & 3.0 have very little difference but is it mobo independent or what..? Also how much is the backward compatibility reliable..? Hope it won't burn out on me.. coz I'm planning to x-fire it with the onboard 4xxx graphics.. is it possible..?

I will use it for 1080 p gaming and won't replace it for next two years..

No there will be no noticable performance loss.see pci exp 2.0 has max 5gbs transfer speed and pci ex 3.0 has 8gbs or 10gbs(not sure).but speed depends on gpu power.even if you get high end gpu like hd 7970 or gtx 680 it will never utilize even pci exp 2.0 speed.you donot have to worry anything about your hd 7870 performance loss.

1GB or 2 gb..? Does it have enough processing power for a 1080 pdisplay..? Two years time and pcie 2.0

summing it up - I have to go for 7870 2GB.

but RAM.. what's up with 1800??

also I got a 160GB Seagate baracuda.. pretty old tho.. but trustworthy.. working good..

550 is tight I know, but I think the recommended is 500 that's why Im going for 550 coz 600 is recommended for x-fire and 800 is pretty too much isn't it?

meaning? is it like USB? just different versions for different speeds that's all? otherwise it will just run fine except that the speeds might be slower. but the question is how much slower? will it be noticable?

if I plugin a pcie3.0 gpu in pcie2.0, is it similar to plugging in a usb3 device into usb2 port?

oh wow.. thanks a lot ashish.. one last question : can I x-fire the 7870 with my onboard HD 4250 gpu?

also how does me having 1333 mhz RAM make a difference if I have a 1800 MHZ ram?? im planning to upgrade my 6gb to 8 gb.. also buy a nice HDD about 500 gig coz my 160 gig is slowing down and its over 6 years old..
