This will be my first build and I need some help! I am building a machine to create 3D models from multiple aerial photographs (structure from motion). Based on the software requirements, I have decided on the CPU (Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor) and Graphics Card
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980). Any suggestions/comments on the rest of the components would be greatly appreciated, especially the motherboard.

Here is what I am thinking:

You got the thing about lots of cores and ram but your storage was way off the mark, you needs lots of it and fast, fast, fast. This is because during processing you will be doing lots of data read/writes. I know that you said to stick with 5960X but I substituted the 5930K and used the money on the storage. As well, I didn't think you needed a 750W platinum, used a 650W gold instead. If you want, keep the CPU and the PSU but improve your storage. Run the 1TB SSD's in a RAID configuration.

For mobo one of my favourites is the ASRock X99 Extreme4
