I have HP Netserver E60 It came with a 9 gig drive that is dying. I bought
a new Maxtor 36.7GB Atlas 10K IV Hard drive. I tried to ghost the 9 gig
over to the 36.7 gig but ghost will not let me. The stupid 30MB partition
that HP puts on the drive is messing up ghost. I created partitions that
closely matched The main partition being 7.8 gig in size. Then used ghost
to copy the main partition to the new drive. That worked ok, but on boot
the computer gives a blue screen of death saying kmode exception not handled
win32sys.dll I then tried to re-install nt 4.0 from scratch. But for the
life of me can not get NT 4.0 install to see the scsi hard drive. I pick
the scsi card and then setup asks for NT setup disk 3 I don't have a disk 3.
I have tried downloading the drivers from HP and putting those on a floppy
keeps asking for a disk labled manufacturer drivers when I choose other.
Does anyone have a clue of something I can try to get NT 4 to re-install on
this HP? Since the server is out of warranty HP isn't any help either.

You'll want to boot the Windows NT setup disks or CD-Rom. The set of 3
install disks can be created from your Windows NT CD-Rom; To do so, take
your Windows NT 4.0 CDROM to another Windows NT Workstation or Server 4.0
system and run the command

WINNT32.EXE /OX

From the CD-ROM's \I386 directory. The Setup program will prompt you to
insert three formatted disks to create the boot floppies but won't begin the
installation process itself. You can also run the command
WINNT.EXE /OX

From the CD-ROM's \I386 directory on a Windows 95, Windows 3.11 or DOS
machine to create the three boot floppies. (note: the disks are created 3,
2, 1)

Then *F6* very early and very important (at setup is inspecting your system)
in the setup to prevent drive controller detection, and select S to specify
additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to insert the manufacturer
supplied Windows NT driver for your scsi controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows NT Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Unfortunately the suggestions did not help. I have found by doing further
research I'm suppose to have a hp navigator cd that is to be used for
install not your standard NT 4.0 disk. I have yet to get this disk, I'm
pestering the company that originally installed the server and gave us the
nt 4.0 server disk. But so far no luck. So unless I can find someone
online who has a copy of the HP Netserver Navigator CD-Rom version E.15.00
I'm going to have to push to install 2000 or 2003 that recognizes the scsi
bus and the drives.
