Hi all,

I just have a quick one. I recently received a P3 850 and I want to put it in my system in place of my Katmai 450 P3 on my Asus-HP 440 BX board. I am aware that this MB does not supply a low enough voltage for the Coppermine P3 and so I am looking for a new relatively low cost, yet highly stable and moderately well performing board. It doesn't have to have the newest features, as I will be transferring over all of my other components from my old computer (100mHz SDram chips, Geforce 2, Audigy, Ultra ATA hd, etc.) and besides, it is only a temporary solution until I gather the money together to purchase a new computer.

All input is greatly appreciated and will be well-received. Thanks for all advice given!

Look around for BX boards on Pricewatch. For example, http://www.justdeals.com carries a Soyo-Tek SY-6BA+III for only $40.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

if you have got a 850 MHz socket370 chip, you can easily do it with a good sloket adapter like Asus S370-DL, or Iwill and Abit models. It would be easier for you, not to mess around updating your windows and reinstalling everything!

but anyway, its a better idea to get a new board since it will have almost everything on it better than the older one, should you go for a Asus TUSL2-C you can have ATA/100, AGP4X and additional headroom for further upgrade.
